Two Irish counties to slash CO2 emissions by 20% by 2020
A plan is being made to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% in two counties in Ireland by 2020. The goal is to shift from big energy plants to smaller, local ones. The plan shows that in 2009, over 90% of energy in the counties came from fossil fuels, costing the economy a lot of money. Even with new energy policies, the region will still rely on fossil fuels for over 80% of its energy needs. The plan will use an energy analysis tool called EnergyPLAN to create a new energy strategy.
