New immigrants from Asia and Latin America face economic disadvantage in US retirement.
Older immigrants in the US often rely on family for financial support because they can't access many US benefits. A study found that only 8.1% of these immigrants receive retirement income from their home countries. Immigrants from Asia and Latin America are less likely to get foreign retirement income compared to those from Europe. This means older immigrants from Asia and Latin America face more economic challenges than Europeans in the US.
