New fertilizer method boosts rice yield in Chhattisgarh, India's Vertisols.
A study in Chhattisgarh, India looked at how different nutrients affect rice growth in Vertisol soil. They found that rice needs 1.52 kg of nitrogen, 0.38 kg of phosphorus, and 2.03 kg of potassium to produce one quintal of grain. The efficiency of fertilizers and soil tests varied for nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. They also evaluated the efficiency of farmyard manure in providing nutrients. Based on these findings, they developed equations to determine the right amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium for different rice yields using organic components in nutrient management.
