Raised-Bed Planting Boosts Cotton Yield by 13.6% in Field Experiment
Raised-bed planting and high plant density were studied together to increase cotton yield. The researchers found that raised-bed planting at 9 plants/m2 produced the highest yield, 13.6% more than flat planting at 6 plants/m2. Raised-bed planting also increased boll weight and earliness, while reducing rotted bolls and abscission rates. Plant density affected yield components, with higher density leading to more bolls per square meter. Overall, raised-bed planting at high plant density is recommended for maximizing cotton yield in the Yellow River Basin.
