Image thresholding is crucial for dividing images into different parts. Researchers used a special technique called fireworks algorithm to find the best threshold value for image segmentation. They compared two functions, Kapur and Otsu, and found that Firework-Otsu gave better segmentation quality than Firework-Kapur. The results were evaluated based on the PSNR value.
