Karst region in China faces rocky desertification due to soil erosion.
Soil erosion is a big problem in rocky areas of southwest China, like the Jinfo Mountains. This study used a special equation and GIS technology to figure out how much soil erosion is happening in this region. They found that some areas have medium erosion, while others have intense erosion. The way people use the land, like planting crops or leaving the ground bare, affects how much soil gets washed away. In the Jinfo Mountains, less ground cover and more farming make erosion worse. To stop soil erosion, it's important to protect the ground and use smart farming practices.
