Allies turned enemies: British perceptions of France during WWI.
During World War I, Britain and France were allies thanks to the Entente Cordiale of 1904. Despite centuries of conflict, they joined forces against Germany. These plans were mostly kept secret and conditional. The alliance between Britain and France was crucial for their victory in the war.
