Sitting Posture Study Reveals Link Between Chronic Back Pain and Office Work.
Office workers with chronic low back pain tend to sit asymmetrically and shift their posture less frequently than healthy workers during prolonged sitting. Both groups tend to adopt slumped sitting postures after 20 minutes. This study used a seat pressure mat to measure seat pressure distribution and found that healthy workers had more postural shifts than those with chronic low back pain. These differences in sitting characteristics may play a role in the development of low back pain.
