Unlocking Genetic Secrets of Mungbean for Higher Yields and Sustainability
The study aimed to evaluate genetic variability in different mungbean genotypes. They found significant variation in most traits studied, except for pod length. The 100-seed weight showed small differences between potential and actual genetic variability, indicating a strong genetic influence on this trait. Traits like plant height, number of clusters per plant, number of pods per plant, 100-seed weight, seed yield per plant, and harvest index showed high genetic variability and heritability, suggesting that these traits are mainly controlled by additive genes. Selecting for these traits could lead to improved mungbean yields.
