Efficient research management boosts medical advancements in China.
The study used data envelopment analysis to assess the efficiency of research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2009 at 17 research institutes. Out of these, 11 institutes were found to be efficient, while 6 were inefficient. The results suggest that adjusting research structure and setting performance objectives can enhance research management and increase the efficiency of investments in medical programs.
