Intercropping maize and soybean boosts silage quality and protein content.
The study looked at how different ways of planting maize and soybean together affect the amount of food produced and its quality. They found that growing maize alone produced more food than when it was grown with soybean. This is because when they are grown together, they use up more sunlight and water. When they made silage from the plants, they found that the mixtures had more protein than just maize silage. The best mixture was when there was one row of maize for every three rows of soybean.
