Thinking you're smarter than others linked to higher racial prejudice
The study found that people who scored higher on intelligence tests tend to have lower levels of racial prejudice. On the other hand, individuals who think they are smarter than others tend to have higher levels of racial prejudice. The researchers also discovered that thinking in essentialist ways about race can mediate the link between actual intelligence and racial prejudice, while Social Dominance Orientation can mediate the link between self-perceived intelligence and racial prejudice. In simple terms, being more intelligent is linked to less racial prejudice, but believing you are smarter than others is linked to more racial prejudice.
