Maize-Soybean Intercropping Boosts Yield by 32% Over Sole Cropping
A study looked at growing maize and soybeans together to see how it affects their growth and yield. They tested different combinations of maize hybrids and soybean varieties at different planting densities. The best results came from planting Awassa-95 soybeans at 50% density with maize, which increased maize yield by 23.71%. Overall, intercropping maize and soybeans was more productive than growing them separately, with a 32% higher yield. This means that planting Awassa-95 soybeans at 50% density is a good way to get the most out of this type of farming system.
