Bangladesh Civil Society Co-opted by Politics, Failing Democracy and Governance
Civil society organizations in Bangladesh are often influenced by political parties, which hinders their ability to promote good governance and democracy. This study looked at five different organizations and found that they are frequently politicized and aligned with specific political groups. Instead of acting as independent watchdogs, these organizations have compromised their autonomy. This situation makes it difficult for civil society to effectively monitor the government and uphold democratic principles.
