They found that the number of young people and the country's income per person were important in determining healthcare spending. In the short term, healthcare spending goes down when income goes up, but in the long term, healthcare becomes more of a luxury as income rises. This means that as Malaysia gets richer, people are willing to spend more on healthcare.
