Newly Discovered Fly Species Could Unlock Secrets of Melanesian Biodiversity
The scientists discovered and described several new species of tiny flies called Manota in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Solomon Islands, and Fiji. They also provided detailed descriptions of previously known species from New Caledonia, New Zealand, and Samoa. By comparing and discussing these species, the researchers created a helpful guide to identify different Manota species in Melanesia and Oceania.
