Polluted River Threatens Eco-Tourism and Endangered Species in Sarawak
The study looked at how land use affects the water quality of Sungai Kenyana and its tributaries in Mukah, Sarawak. Data was collected on various water quality parameters like pH, temperature, and oxygen levels. The results showed that the water quality in Sungai Kenyana was mostly normal, but some factors like oxygen levels and turbidity were not ideal. The Water Quality Index indicated that Sungai Liwak had poor water quality, while Sungai Kenyana and Sungai Mukah had moderate quality. Overall, the study found that the river's water quality was impacted by land use activities, particularly from oil palm plantations.
