This paper looks at why energy use changed in Tangshan City from 2007 to 2012. They found that the city's industry sector is huge, especially when compared to the whole country. Tangshan used almost twice as much energy in 2013 as it did in 2005, with coal being the main energy source. Even though Tangshan used less energy per dollar earned in 2013, it was still higher than the national average. Changes in how energy was used were mainly because of technological improvements, but the overall growth of the city played a big role in increasing energy use.
