Acidic Lakes in Wisconsin Threaten Ecosystems Due to Atmospheric Deposition
The study looked at two low-alkalinity lakes in northern Wisconsin to see how sensitive they are to acid deposition. They found that the type of lake (seepage lakes) plays a big role in their sensitivity. By studying Lakes Clara and Vandercook, they discovered that these lakes are indeed sensitive to acid deposition. The key processes controlling the chemistry of these lakes were identified, helping us understand how they are affected by environmental factors.
