Soil erosion study reveals alarming loss of 32 million tons yearly.
Soil erosion is a big problem worldwide, causing harm to the environment and economy. A study was done to estimate soil loss and sediment yield in Algash Basin. They used GIS and remote sensing to analyze soil loss using a model called Universal Soil Loss Equation. Factors like rainfall, soil type, and vegetation were considered. The study found that annual soil loss ranged from zero to 118.86 tons per hectare per year, with a total soil loss of 32,916,840.87 tons per year in the entire area.
