Apathy and Disengagement Threaten Democracy in Post-Communist Nations
The paper looks at how politics has changed in public life since the Velvet Revolution about 25 years ago. It defines and explains terms like "apolitics," "anti-politics," and "sub-politics" which are used in Czech politics. These terms describe different ways people are involved in or disconnected from politics. The paper also talks about how these terms relate to building a civil society and how they affect the power of political parties in countries after Communism.
