Climate change models predict reduced soil salinity impact on coastal Bangladesh agriculture by 2050.
The scientists developed a new method to predict how soil salt levels change daily in coastal Bangladesh. They used this method to simulate soil salinity in different types of farmland, like rice fields and shrimp farms. The model accurately predicted soil salt levels in 2009 and projected future levels in 2050. The results show that weather changes between seasons play a big role in how salty the soil gets in coastal areas.
