Blast-proof glass curtain wall shields federal facility from explosive forces, safeguarding lives and property.
A three-story glass curtain wall system was designed to withstand a blast load at a federal research facility. The design used special software for glazing analysis and two different methods for blast response analysis. The results showed that the curtain wall system could handle a peak reflected pressure of 5.4 psi with a duration of 28 ms. The study also considered various blast design factors to ensure the system's performance met the specified blast loads.
