Late intracytoplasmic sperm injection shows promise in overcoming failed fertilization in vitro.
Late intracytoplasmic sperm injection was used on unfertilized eggs from IVF patients to see if they could still become embryos. Out of 121 eggs, 58 fertilized normally and 47 developed normally. Only one patient out of 15 became pregnant, but not all embryos were from the late injection. Late intracytoplasmic sperm injection can lead to good fertilization and embryo development, but the chance of pregnancy may be low.
