Terrace farming reduces soil erosion by 90% in Yunnan study.
The researchers studied ways to monitor soil and water conservation on sloping farmland in Yunnan. They used artificial rainfall experiments and natural rainfall observations to see how well terracing reduced erosion. The results showed that both methods confirmed that terracing significantly decreased soil erosion on the land. Rainfall amount and slope steepness were important factors, with rainfall having a bigger impact. Overall, the study demonstrated that terracing effectively reduced soil erosion on sloping farmland.
