The Danube delta has changed a lot over time due to factors like sediment from the river, sea level changes, and tectonic movements. This study looked at the whole delta's history using new and old data to understand how it grew and changed. They found that the delta started forming a long time ago, with different parts growing at different rates. The southern part of the delta has a distributary called the Dunavăţ that is still active. The delta's landscape has shifted a lot over the years, with some areas now buried under newer sediment. The study also shows how different branches of the river have shaped the delta's evolution.
