Inadequate Waste Management in Ghana Leads to Environmental Crisis and Health Risks
The study looked at how solid waste is managed in Bawku Municipality, Ghana. They asked people about their waste habits and talked to waste management officials. They found that the main types of waste were organic, paper, and plastic. Problems included not enough waste bins, poor waste transportation, and low use of door-to-door collection. The landfill was not up to standard, and people didn't know much about waste management. Most people thought it was the government's job to handle waste. The waste management institutions had financial issues, not enough staff, and poor equipment. The study suggests a plan to improve waste management based on these findings.
