Sperm protein discovery could revolutionize male infertility treatment
The study looked at a protein called sNHE in human sperm to see how it relates to sperm health. They found that sNHE is mainly in the tail of sperm and is linked to sperm concentration and motility. High levels of sNHE were seen in healthy sperm, especially those that swim well. Sperm from men with low motility had lower levels of sNHE. This suggests that sNHE plays a role in sperm movement and may be involved in fertility issues when its levels are off.
