Spatial Big Data Queries Revolutionize Hadoop, Boosting Efficiency by 58%
The scientists built a system that can save lots of spatial data in Hadoop and let people ask about the data using a specific type of questions called SQL. They made it so the system can understand special spatial types like areas and special functions. They created features like analyzing the questions, checking their validity, planning how to answer them, and connecting to the storage system. When they tested the system by asking about parts of the data, it worked about 58% faster than the older system doing the same thing.
