Lake Kainji's Clupeid Fishery Potential Unleashes Sustainable Economic Growth.
The researchers studied the potential for fishing clupeid fish in Lake Kainji, Nigeria. They found that the lake has enough food for the fish to sustain a yearly production of 1,400 tons, which is worth N198,800 (£99,400). They recommended effective fishing methods to maintain the fishery and concluded that one type of clupeid fish, Pellonula afzeluisi, can be harvested on a large scale without harming the lake's ecosystem.
