Sediment sources and distribution patterns in China's seas revealed.
The study looked at where sediment in the Bohai and Yellow Seas comes from and how it moves around. They found that sediment on the shelves is mainly from the Huanghe River, eroded coastlines, and old river deltas. The size of the sediment grains shows how they were transported. The Yellow Sea Warm Current also plays a role in moving sediment. The sediment sources in the central South Yellow Sea were identified, with a mix of sediments being the most important. The shape of the seafloor and the size of the sediment grains also affect how sediment is distributed.
