Islamic Banks Outperform Conventional Banks During Global Financial Crisis.
The study looked at how Islamic banks and conventional banks in six different countries were affected by the 2008 global financial crisis. They found that Islamic banks in G20 countries did better than conventional banks, but in non-G20 countries, conventional banks did better. Islamic banks in countries where Islam is the main religion also performed better than conventional banks. Additionally, Islamic banks in countries with authoritative governments did better, while conventional banks did better in democratic countries. Islamic banks' conservative approach helped protect them during the financial crisis.
