New research challenges belief that sticky wages lead to lower real wages.
The sticky wage model can actually lead to a real wage that goes up when the economy is doing well, not down as previously thought. This happens when workers are less willing to leave their jobs when times are tough. So, contrary to what was believed, a pro-cyclical real wage is not a flaw in the model, but a possible outcome when labor supply is not very flexible.
