By analyzing surface cover and temperature data from Landsat satellites, researchers found that tree canopy and surface water help lower urban temperatures. In Adelaide, tree canopy was almost 5°C cooler than paved areas. This information can help cities create heat-resilient urban spaces for a more sustainable future.
