Boosting wheat yields in Ethiopia with optimal fertilizer rates
A study in Ethiopia looked at how different types of wheat respond to nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers. They tested two wheat varieties and different levels of N and P fertilizers. One variety had higher grain yield and nutrient uptake, while the other had more tillers and plant height. Increasing N levels improved plant growth and yield. The interaction between variety and N-P fertilizers affected grain and biomass yield. Higher N and P levels increased nutrient content in grains and plants, but decreased fertilizer efficiency. Overall, grain and biomass yields were linked to plant growth and nutrient uptake.
