Coral reef fish diversity thrives in less tourist-impacted Patok Bay.
The researchers studied the diversity of coral reef fish at Racha Yai Island, Thailand, from 2013 to 2015. They looked at the types of fish, how many there were, and what they ate in two different bays. They found that in Khonkae Bay, the fish diversity was lower in 2014 because one type of fish was very common. In Patok Bay, the fish diversity stayed the same each year, suggesting the reef there is healthier.
