Overgrazing in Inner Mongolia leads to desertification and economic losses.
The study looked at how grazing intensity and grazing system affect the quality of grass and the performance of sheep in Inner Mongolia, China. Researchers tested different levels of grazing intensity and two grazing systems over three years to see how they impacted the amount and quality of grass, how much the sheep ate, and how well they performed. They found that overgrazing can harm the grassland and reduce the productivity of both the grass and the animals that rely on it. By carefully managing how much and when sheep graze, it is possible to improve the health of the grassland and the animals that depend on it.
