The research paper discusses the management of solid waste in Hyderabad city. The study found that the existing imported waste management systems are not suitable for the city. Instead, a new approach involving the community was successful in improving waste collection and transportation in a model colony called Gulshan-e-Hali. A new garbage collection rickshaw was designed and operated effectively. By involving the community, significant and sustainable improvements in solid waste management were achieved, leading to a better living environment in urban areas.
