New solar-powered cooling system slashes electricity bills for residential buildings!
Solar cooling can reduce electricity use in buildings. An air-cooled absorption chiller was developed for residential use, driven by solar energy. It has a cooling capacity of 6 kW and was tested successfully without crystallization risk. The chiller can meet 65% of a building's cooling needs with an average efficiency of 0.61. The solar air conditioning system can convert 28% of solar radiation into cooling capacity.
