The study looked at how to improve flood control in the Yangtze River Basin by combining the operations of the Three Gorges and Jinsha River cascade reservoirs. By using a method called equal water storage, they found that working together reduced flooding in certain areas during major floods in 1954 and 1998. This combined approach can help reduce excess flooding in the Jingjiang and Chenglingji areas, making flood control in the Changjiang river basin more effective.
