Coal mining can harm the environment and local communities. To make mining more sustainable, factors like geology, technology, and regulations must be considered. A study at PT Adaro Coal Mine in South Kalimantan used GIS and fuzzy logic to plan for using remaining coal resources and land after mining. The research found that there is potential for more coal after mining ends, and that planting rubber trees is a good way to use the land effectively.
