Landfill study reveals alarming methane and carbon dioxide emissions impact.
The researchers studied emissions of methane and carbon dioxide from landfills in Spain to understand their environmental impact. They used a two-step process involving a walkover survey and a flux box study to measure gas concentrations and emission rates. By using portable detectors, they found emissions ranging from less than 1 mg/m2h to over 104 mg/m2h. This method helped estimate the total surface emissions of the landfills.
