Thick Coal Seam Mining Breakthrough Ensures Safer, More Efficient Energy Production
This paper discusses how to safely mine a thick coal seam with a hard roof at Jinhuagong Coal Mine in China. To handle this tough roof, they developed a method to estimate support strength and used destress blasting to control roof movements. They adjusted the support method to account for the unique roof conditions. By blasting parts of the roof, they reduced the risk of roof collapses and made mining safer and more efficient. The study showed that the modified support method and destress blasting were effective in ensuring safe and productive mining in these challenging conditions.
