The study tested compost erosion control blankets and compost filtersocks to prevent soil erosion and runoff from engineered slopes in the UK. They found that using these treatments led to significant reductions in runoff volume, soil loss, and sediment loss compared to bare soil. The compost filtersocks were particularly effective in controlling runoff. The concentrations of ortho-phosphate-P and Total Oxides of Nitrogen in runoff were well below the permissible levels set by environmental regulations. Overall, the use of compost erosion control blankets and compost filtersocks showed promising results in controlling erosion and runoff from engineered slopes.
