Groundwater recharge model offers hope for water-scarce Far-North Cameroon.
Groundwater recharge in the Far-North region of Cameroon was studied using the GROWA model to assess how rainfall contributes to replenishing groundwater. International data sources were used due to a lack of regional data. The model results matched existing assessments in most areas, indicating that GROWA can provide reliable estimates of groundwater recharge through rainfall. This initial step shows promise for more detailed estimates once higher-resolution data specific to the region are available.
