Improved Transportation Boosts Tourism, Fueling Economic Growth
The article reviews how transportation affects tourism promotion using a model called Computable General Equilibrium (CGE). The researchers looked at 69 papers from 1960 to 2015 that used CGE models to study the relationship between tourism, transportation, and the economy. They found that most papers focused on how tourism and the economy interact, while fewer looked at transportation's impact on the economy. Only a small number of papers directly studied how transportation affects tourism. The researchers suggest that future studies should include transportation accessibility in CGE models to better understand how transportation influences tourism.
