Livestock farms in China exceed phosphorus limit, risking environmental pollution.
Livestock farms in Shangjie town, China, estimated the amount of phosphorus in manure to prevent environmental pollution. By using a model and spatial analysis, they found that in 2011, the total manure phosphorus load exceeded the farmland's capacity. The carrying capacity of the farms was calculated to be around 9128 pigs, with most farms able to support less than 300 pigs. This information can help plan the layout of livestock farms and reduce pollution from manure.
