Rainfall Holds Key to Boosting Nigeria's Electricity Generation
The study analyzed electricity generation in Nigeria using two statistical models based on rainfall and temperature data from 2002 to 2014. The models used were multiple linear regression and Box-Jenkins’ autoregressive model of order 1. Rainfall was found to have a significant positive relationship with power generation, while temperature did not significantly affect it. The multiple linear regression model was chosen as the best model, with a high coefficient of determination (r^2=99.77%) and low Root Mean Square Error (60.27%).
