New method revolutionizes learning technical terminology in business English courses.
Learning technical terminology in a foreign language can be challenging for students. To help with this, an activity was implemented in university business English courses. Students created bilingual lists of technical terms and their definitions/translations from professional papers/books in English. This activity aimed to encourage students to learn technical vocabulary independently by reading technical literature and using dictionaries and glossaries. The results showed that students were able to select appropriate professional papers, choose definitions of terminology, and translate them into Slovenian. This activity helped students become more aware of the importance of using resources effectively to acquire technical terminology.
