Soil properties determine soil loss in coffee farming, impacting erosion rates.
The study looked at how different soil properties affect soil loss in coffee farming areas in Sumberjaya, West Lampung. By analyzing soil samples from three sites, researchers found that soil physical properties like porosity and permeability play a big role in determining soil erosion levels. Soils with high porosity and permeability had lower erosion rates, while soils with lower porosity and permeability experienced higher erosion. This suggests that soil conservation efforts should be tailored to specific soil properties in each area to effectively prevent soil loss.
